About Us

Schmitt Engineering, founded in 1996 by Al Schmitt, develops commercial and residential site plans, septic plans, and commercial and residential subdivisions. We are not only expert at producing quality drawings in a turnaround time that will keep your projects moving forward and on schedule, we excel at forging close relationships and strong communications with all of our clients, whether developers, general contractors, homebuilders, or individual home buyers. No matter what the size of your company or project, your complete satisfaction is our biggest concern.

Schmitt Engineering continues to grow. Yet even as our project and client lists have expanded, our objectives have remained the same as the day the company opened for business—to create designs that meet your requirements but are also sensitive to preserving the beauty of the landscape and topography that make McHenry County and the surrounding areas such special places to live and work.

We rely on the latest in technologySchmitt Engineering employee using surveying equipment, such as AutoCAD 2006, to develop our designs. All of our topographies are shot using either a robotic Total Station survey system or a GPS unit. These state-of-the-art systems allow us to provide topographic surveys for septic, small site designs and building stakeouts with increased efficiency, speed and accuracy.

Schmitt Engineering has produced site plan designs for developments in Spring Grove, Johnsburg, Richmond, Woodstock and the majority of other municipalities in McHenry County. We are also expanding to Winnebago and Boone Counties and to the Rockford area. Each year, we design over 200 private sewage disposal systems in McHenry County alone. We welcome the opportunity to discuss your requirements and invite you to contact us. You will find our team approachable, highly skilled and uniquely positioned to help you turn your project from a concept to a reality.
